Allowing specified valuation of items covered by a homeowner's policy.

          AN ACT Relating to the valuation of items under a homeowner's policy; and adding a new section to chapter 48.18 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.18 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) As used in this section, "homeowner's policy" means a policy of general casualty or property insurance that includes coverage of loss or damage to the personal property of the insured homeowner.

          (2) Every homeowner's policy issued in this state shall, upon the request of the named insured and payment of the appropriate premium, include coverage for specified items of personal property, the value of which have been agreed to in writing by the named insured and the insurer before a covered loss.  In the event of a covered loss involving such items, their value will be that set forth in the policy.
