AN ACT Relating to the Columbia river resource task force; and creating a new section.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. (1) The president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives, shall appoint, respectively, two senators and two representatives, one from each caucus, to represent the state of Washington on the Columbia river resource task force. The task force shall operate as a clearinghouse for issues of interest and concern on the Columbia river and shall include among its duties the duty to report to the legislatures of the participating jurisdictions and to the state delegations in the United States congress concerning those interests and concerns in the participating jurisdictions.
(2) The appointments become operative when the presiding officers from Oregon, Idaho, or Montana, or any two of these states, make legislative appointments for the same purpose.
(3) Participation in the activities of the task force by legislators appointed to represent the state of Washington is subject to the following conditions:
(a) Legislative members shall use existing staff personnel for administrative support work; and
(b) Legislative members of the task force shall be reimbursed for travel expenses as provided in RCW 44.04.120.
(4) This section expires July 1, 1998.
