SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 8423

State of Washington 53rd Legislature 1994 Regular Session

WHEREAS, Washington state is a member of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region Agreement; and
WHEREAS, The delegate council of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region consists of legislators from Washington state and from other participating states and provinces; and
WHEREAS, The legislature intends to encourage and support the cooperative activities of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region Agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate of the state of Washington, the House of Representatives concurring, That a joint select committee on the Pacific Northwest Economic Region Agreement be established to:
(1) Initiate, review, and evaluate proposals considered or to be considered by the Pacific Northwest Economic Region or any committee or council formed as a part of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region;
(2) Review, evaluate, and propose uniform legislation to further the goals of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region; and
(3) Make recommendations to the legislature and to the governor regarding joint regional efforts and such other public policy issues as would be of mutual benefit to the parties to the Pacific Northwest Economic Region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the committee consist of the legislators appointed as delegates and alternates to the Pacific Northwest Economic Region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate committee services and the House of Representatives office of program research provide staffing to the committee.
