WHEREAS, Association with the Washington State Legislature, as a Senator or a Representative, in a staff position, as a lobbyist, or through a news media assignment, forges a strong bond of personal relationship among those who have shared this experience; and
WHEREAS, These long‑standing legislative relationships have been maintained through a biennial gathering, originated informally, known as the "Old Timers" Reunion; and
WHEREAS, Perpetuating this common interest, and preserving the traditions of public and professional service on which it is based, strengthens the legislative process and contributes to the institutional integrity of the legislature;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring, That there shall be a "Legislative Old Timers" Reunion and related events planned and conducted as a formal and official program of this legislative session; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That each caucus of the Senate and the House of Representatives designate a member to form a committee which shall be responsible for facilitating such a purpose with the enlisted assistance of other active and former legislators, staff members, lobbyists and news people so that the Legislative Old Timers program will provide a permanent connection of the past with the present for the betterment of the State of Washington.
