HB 1818 - DIGEST

(SUBSTITUTED FOR - SEE 1ST SUB)

     Authorizes the governor to declare a community to be a military impacted area and to establish a response team to coordinate state efforts to assist the community.

     Requires the state board for community and technical colleges to administer a program designed to provide higher education opportunities to defense dependent workers impacted by a reduction in military spending.

     Requires a survey to determine the actual future employment needs and job skills in the impacted areas.

     Authorizes the payment of additional benefits under chapter 50.22 RCW.

     Repeals RCW 43.160.900.
