HB 1826 - DIGEST

     Provides fiscal assistance to help local governments provide for additional police protection, ease congested court systems, and relieve overcrowded jails.

     Initiates a review of the criminal justice needs of cities and counties and the resources available to address those needs.

     Transfers funds from existing criminal justice accounts to the emergency or extraordinary criminal justice event account.

     Restricts the establishment of municipal departments of district courts and of municipal courts.

     Provides that the punishment for local criminal ordinances may not exceed the state law provisions.

     Repeals RCW 82.14.301.
