     On page 69, line 20, strike "65,609,000" and insert "73,609,000"

     On page 69, line 22, strike "78,109,000" and insert "86,109,000"

     On page 71, after line 7, insert:

     "(13) $8,000,000 of the general fund-state appropriation is provided for grants to school districts to provide a continuum of care for children and families to help children become ready to learn.  Grant proposals from school districts shall contain local plans designed collaboratively with community service providers.  If a continuum of care program exists in the area in which the school district is located, the local plan shall provide for coordination with existing programs to the greatest extent possible. Grant funds shall be allocated pursuant to RCW 70.190.040."

EFFECT:  Provides funding for "Readiness to Learn" programs as part of education reform at the level appropriated in 1993-95.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Increases General Fund-State by $8,000,000.
