     On page 86, after line 28, insert the following:

     "NEW SECTION. Sec. 40.  For fiscal year 1997, $4,778,000 is appropriated from the state general fund to the state treasurer for transfer to the county criminal justice assistance account. The amount appropriated in this section shall be distributed to counties in accordance with RCW 82.14.310."

Correct the title accordingly.

EFFECT:  Provides counties with $4,778,000 in additional funding for criminal justice activities which would be distributed based on the formula currently contained in RCW 82.14.310
