     On page 59, after line 9, insert the following:

     "Within the amounts appropriated in this section, $4,475,000 of the general fund-state appropriation, or as much thereof as is necessary, is provided solely to increase salaries of correctional officers and correctional sergeants by five percent, effective July 1, 1996."

EFFECT:  Directs the Department of Corrections to increase Corrections Officers and Sergeants salaries' by five percent effective July 1, 1996.  The salary increase of $4,475,000 General Fund-State is provided within existing appropriations.

FISCAL IMPACT:  None.
