     On page 2, line 16, after "majority of" insert "regional"

     On page 2, line 18, after "instruction."  Add:  "If the regional transportation coordinators deny a request for placement of a bus on a new category created in 1996, they shall document the reasons and provide the information to the superintendent of public instruction.  New categories shall be developed and be ready for soliciting competitive bids by June 1, 1996."

EFFECT:  Corrects reference to the titles of the transportation coordinators housed at the Educational Service Districts.  Requires documentation of reasons used by the ESD transportation coordinators for turning down the request of a district to use one of the new categories for school bus replacement payments.  Establishes timelines for creating new school bus replacement categories addressing engine placement.
