     On page 5, after line 9, insert:

     "NEW SECTION. Sec. 11.  Notwithstanding RCW 84.36.010 or other statutes to the contrary, the department of natural resources shall pay an amount in lieu of real property taxes for replacement lands purchased after the effective date of this act under section 6 of this act.  The amount shall be equal to the amount that would have been paid under Title 84 RCW for the lands if they had not been purchased by the department.  The amount shall be paid by April 30th of each year to the treasurer of the county in which the lands are located, and shall be distributed in the same manner in which taxes applicable to the subject land would have been distributed."

     Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct internal references accordingly.

     On page 5, line 10, after "for" strike "section 6" and insert "sections 6 and 11"

EFFECT:  Removes provisions related to the transfer of lands adjacent to the central campus of Western State Hospital.  Requires the Department of Natural Resources to exclusively purchase timber lands as replacement lands.  Requires the Department of Natural Resources to make payments in lieu of property taxes for replacement lands purchased after the effective date of the act. Makes technical corrections to budget account references in the bill.
