HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 96-4750, by Representatives Benton and Boldt
WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington state legislature to honor and recognize excellence in service to the great state of Washington and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, On rare occasion a citizen's contributions to community and others exemplify the foundation upon which the great state of Washington was built and from which it continues to be a leader among the states; and
WHEREAS, The rare and extraordinary contributions of Mary Kathryn Bettasso, a late resident of Camas, gives new meaning to the term "contribution to others" and to the great state of Washington; and
WHEREAS, Mary Kathryn Bettasso's contributions to the senior citizens of Washington have been recognized by her selfless hours of serving others through her involvements in AARP, the Senior Citizens Center, and the VFW, and through the creation of SALT; and
WHEREAS, Mary Kathryn Bettasso's dedication and unrelenting energy has provided many hours to seeing to the needs of others, not only in the City of Camas, but throughout Clark County, which recognized her boundless gift to others by recognizing and bestowing upon her the honor of being one of the county's "Wonderful Older Women"; and
WHEREAS, The great state of Washington lost one of its finest women with the recent passing of Mary Kathryn Bettasso, whose passion for life will be forever missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and professional associates;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the highest level of excellence demonstrated by Mary Kathryn Bettasso and the brilliant example she has set for others; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express its condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and professional associates of Mary Kathryn Bettasso; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to the family of Mary Kathryn Bettasso.
