On page 5, after line 16, insert the following:
ANEW SECTION. Sec 8. The legislature finds that it is important for the well-being of society, and for the deer receiving temporary assistance, that the financing of deer chow from the public treasury reflect the values of mainstream American culture, specifically the importance of work, personal responsibility, and accountability for individual actions.
NEW SECTION. Sec 9. Deer and elk living in Washington state for fewer than twelve months may only receive the level of feeding provided in the state where they previously resided.
NEW SECTION. Sec 10. Able bodied deer and elk without offspring may not receive deer chow unless they work at least 20 hours per week.
NEW SECTION. Sec 11. Legal immigrant deer and elk arriving in the state after August 22, 1996 are not eligible for food assistance.@
Renumber remaining sections consecutively and correct internal references accordingly.
EFFECT: Clarifies the eligibility requirements of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Deer program (TAN-D)
