     On page 86, line 23, After ASec. 710" insert AThe joint committee on pension policy shall study the policy and the costs of merging the teachers= retirement system and the washington school employees= retirement system and shall report their findings to the legislature by January 15, 1999.

Renumber the remaining sections consecutively.

EFFECT: The Joint Committee on Pension Policy is directed to study the merger of TRS and SERS and to report back to the Legislature next session.
