  Requiring that employers provide discharged employees with a written statement of the reasons for the discharge.


    AN ACT Relating to discharge of employees; and adding a new section to chapter 49.12 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 49.12 RCW to read as follows:

    The department shall incorporate into any current wage and hour poster provided to employers informing employees of their rights under this chapter, information stating that upon written request by the employee, the employer shall furnish within ten working days of a request to the employee who is discharged, a signed written statement setting forth the reasons for such discharge and the effective date of the discharge.
