Appointing a joint select committee to evaluate and analyze fish and wildlife programs.


    WHEREAS, The department of fish and wildlife is facing serious fiscal and management challenges;

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the House of Representatives of the state of Washington, the Senate concurring, That a joint select committee to evaluate and analyze fiscal management policies and funding practices of fish and wildlife programs in the state be appointed; and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the joint select committee be appointed composed of five members of the House of Representatives selected by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, three from the majority party caucus and two from the minority party caucus, and five members of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate, three from the majority party caucus and two from the minority party caucus; and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the members of the joint select committee select cochairs of the committee, one from the House of Representatives and one from the Senate and that staff support for the joint select committee be provided by the House of Representatives office of program research and Senate committee services; and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the joint select committee report its recommendations to the fish and wildlife commission and legislature by the 1999 regular legislative session.
