HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97-4642, by Representatives K. Schmidt, Robertson, Mitchell, Zellinsky, Hankins, DeBolt, Sheahan, Sheldon, Delvin, Fisher, O'Brien, Romero, Wolfe, Scott, Sterk and Appelwick

 

      WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to honor those who have served, throughout their lives, the citizens of the state of Washington; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg, a true public servant, passed away on February 15, 1997; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg was born on March 27, 1897, on the family homestead in Adams County to Isaac and Lilly Rigg; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg graduated in 1915 from Cheney High School and attended Washington State University in Pullman; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg served in the Army in France from 1917 to 1919 during World War I; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg served as Whitman County Deputy Sheriff from 1922 until 1925; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg became one of the original eight Washington State Patrol officers in 1925, serving until 1957; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg served as Thurston County Assessor from 1958 to 1968; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg, at the time of his death, was the oldest retired Washington State Patrolman; and

      WHEREAS, David B. Rigg was a public servant throughout his life;

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and honor David B. Rigg; and

      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to David B. Rigg's son, William B. Rigg.
