AN ACT Relating to requiring auto transportation companies to file reports once per year; and amending RCW 81.24.020 and 46.16.125.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
Sec. 1. RCW 81.24.020 and 1961 c 14 s 81.24.020 are each amended to read as follows:
By
May 1st of each year, every auto transportation company ((shall, between
the first and fifteenth days of January, April, July and October of each year,))
must file with the commission a statement showing its gross operating
revenue from intrastate operations for the preceding ((three months, or
portion thereof,)) year and pay to the commission a fee of
two-fifths of one percent of the amount of gross operating revenue((:
PROVIDED, That)). However, the fee paid shall in no case be less
than two dollars and fifty cents.
The
percentage rate of gross operating revenue to be paid in any period may be
decreased by the commission by general order entered before the fifteenth day
of the month preceding the month in which ((such fees are)) the fee
is due.
Sec. 2. RCW 46.16.125 and 1967 ex.s. c 83 s 60 are each amended to read as follows:
In
addition to the fees required by RCW 46.16.070, operators of auto stages with
seating capacity over six shall pay ((quarterly)), at the time they file
gross earning returns with the utilities and transportation commission, the sum
of fifteen cents for each one hundred vehicle miles operated by each auto stage
over the public highways of this state((: PROVIDED, That)).
However, in the case of each auto stage propelled by steam, electricity,
natural gas, diesel oil, butane, or propane, the payment required ((hereunder
shall be)) in this section is twenty cents per one hundred miles of
such operation. The commission shall transmit all ((such)) sums so
collected to the state treasurer, who shall deposit the same in the motor
vehicle fund. Any person failing to make any payment required by this section
((shall be)) is subject to a penalty of one hundred percent of
the payment due ((hereunder)) in this section, in addition to any
penalty provided for failure to submit a ((quarterly)) report. Any
penalties so collected shall be credited to the public service revolving fund.
