(DIGEST AS ENACTED)

     Provides that, by September 1, 1997, the commission shall increase the area available for use by recreational metal detectors by at least two hundred acres.

     Provides that, beginning September 1, 1998, and each year thereafter until August 31, 2003, the commission shall increase the area of land available for use by recreational metal detectors by at least fifty acres.

     Directs the commission to develop a cost-effective plan to identify historic archaeological resources in at least one state park containing a military fort located in Puget Sound.
