HB 2990 - DIGEST

(DIGEST AS ENACTED)

     Recognizes the need to involve the boarding home industry, the consumers of assisted living and retirement services, the long-term care ombudsman, and state regulatory agencies in the collaborative process of developing standards and procedures for accreditation of licensed boarding homes.

     Finds that it is in the best interests of the boarding home industry, boarding home consumers, and state regulatory agencies to support an industry-funded pilot program prior to changing or developing new standards for boarding home regulation.

     Requires the pilot third-party boarding home accreditation plan to be presented to the appropriate committees of the house of representatives and the senate by January 4, 1999.
