    On page 3, after line 3, strike all of subsection (4) and insert the following:

    "(4) The commissioner may adopt rules to implement this section and shall take into consideration health information privacy standards adopted by federal regulatory agencies."

    Renumber the sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Permits the OIC to adopt rules on health information privacy and if rules are adopted, the OIC must consider standard rules adopted by federal agencies. '

    Controls the cost of the bill by giving the OIC the option to adopt     rules should they be necessary.

    Provides clear legislative direction focusing the rules on standard     rules already adopted by federal regulatory agencies.
