Background: The University of Washington Police Department (UWPD) was created by statutory authority. UWPD officers are generally commissioned with the same authority as sheriffs and peace officers. UWPD receives the same salary adjustments as other state employees. The State Patrol often receives enhanced salary adjustments.
Summary of Bill: The University of Washington Board of Regents must adjust UWPD salaries with and in like proportion to salary adjustments for the Washington State Patrol.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Requested on February 10, 1999.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
