Title:  An act relating to dairy nutrients.

Background:  The Dairy Nutrient Management Program, Chapter 90.64 RCW, exists to regulate discharges to surface waters from dairy farms.  In 1998 the Dairy Waste Management Program was modified in several respects, including changing the name to the Dairy Nutrient Management Program.

Some references to Adairy waste@ were not changed.  It is felt the title of Adairy nutrient@ more accurately reflects the usefulness of this by-product of dairy operations.

Summary of Bill:  The phrase Adairy waste@ is changed to Adairy nutrient@ in both places it appears in statute.  Gender neutral changes are made where appropriate.  Obsolete references to a vetoed oversight committee are removed.

Appropriation:  None.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
