Majority Report:  That Substitute Senate Bill No. 6548 be substituted therefor, and the substitute bill do pass.

Background:  Motor vehicle dealers who transact business by consignment must obtain a consignment contract to sell the vehicle.  Once the vehicle's title has been delivered to the purchaser of the vehicle, the dealer must pay the amount due to the consignor within ten days after the sale.  Currently, some consignment contracts require payment within 15 days after the sale of the vehicle.

Summary of Bill:  When the title has been delivered to the purchaser, the wholesale auto auction must pay the amount due to the consignor within 20 days after the sale of the vehicle.

Appropriation:  None.

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Testimony For:  This is a technical change to provide auctions sufficient time to process paperwork.
