Background: The Union Pacific Railroad and the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad run parallel to each other through most of the Spokane Valley. In some areas the two railroads cross each other.
Summary of Bill: The Utilities and Transportation Commission and the Department of Transportation must conduct a study on railroad rights of way in the Spokane Valley. The study must examine the costs of combining two railroads on one right of way and the expenses associated with building overpasses in various locations throughout the Spokane Valley.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
