Reducing the total state property tax levy by 6.2 percent.

    AN ACT Relating to reducing property taxes by reducing the total state property tax levy amount by 6.2 percent; and adding a new section to chapter 84.55 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 84.55 RCW to read as follows:

    The state property tax levy for collection in 2001 shall be reduced by 6.2 percent of the levy amount that would otherwise be allowed under this chapter without regard to this section.  State levies for collection before 2001 shall not be used as the highest of the three most recent years for purposes of limitation calculations under this chapter.
