SB 6151 - DIGEST

 

     Declares an intent to abolish the department of social and health services and to divide the divisions of the department into four separate state agencies.  It is also the intent of the  legislature to eliminate the executive division of the department of social and health services, including but not limited to the office of the secretary.

     Creates a department of state government to be known as the department of income and medical assistance.

     Creates a department of state government to be known as the department of long-term care.

     Creates a department of state government to be known as the department of children, youth, and family services.

     Creates a department of state government to be known as the department of rehabilitative and health services.

     Provides that, by July 1, 2000, the governor shall appoint a transition team chaired by the secretary of the department of social and health services to direct the details of administration of this act.  The team shall consist of representatives from the office of financial management, the legislature, and the divisions of the department of social and health services.
