Brief Summary of Bill

$Requires the Department of Social and Health Services to develop and use performance measures in the community mental health system.

Background:

The Department of Social and Health Services was required to develop performance measures to evaluate and manage the operation of the community mental health system under provisions of SHB 1650.  The Governor vetoed the sections of SHB 1650 requiring the creation and use of performance measures in the community mental health system.

Summary of Bill:

The vetoed sections of SHB 1650 relating to the development and use of performance measures for the community mental health system are included.  The Department of Social and Health Services will develop performance measures to evaluate and manage community mental health services.  Every regional support network and mental health services provider will be evaluated using these criteria.  The department will provide an annual report on the performance measures to appropriate legislative committees.  A null and void clause is included.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
