Brief Description: Requiring antismoking instruction in grades six through twelve.

Background:
Compulsory course work in the common school curriculum includes instruction in hygiene with special reference to the effects of alcohol and drug abuse on the human system. Teachers are required to stress the minimum requisites for good health, including the beneficial effects of physical exercise.
Summary of Bill:
Students in grades six through 12 will receive at least 50 minutes of antismoking instruction on or before November 1 of each year.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not Requested.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
