Background:  Before a state or local government agency awards an architectural or engineering contract,  the agency must consider different firms' statements of qualifications and performance data.  Agencies are required to encourage firms to submit these statements on an annual basis.

 

Summary of Bill:  Agencies must encourage firms to submit statements of qualifications and performance data no less than once every two years, instead of once a year.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

 

Testimony For:  Agencies can spend up to five months of the year reviewing a firm's qualifications.  This bill would allow agencies to encourage firms to submit data once every two years, instead of once every year.
