Title: An act relating to eligibility for running start.
Brief Description: Authorizing high school principals to revoke a pupil's eligibility for the running start program for the failure to maintain a grade point average.

Background: Under current law, if a local school district permits, 11th and 12th grade students may enroll in participating higher education institutions to take courses leading to high school and postsecondary academic credit. Students wishing to participate in the program must successfully apply to the participating higher education institution. This program is commonly known as ?Running Start.@ Successful participants receive high school credit leading to graduation, and may receive postsecondary credit from the participating higher education institution.
Summary of Bill: High school principals may revoke a Running Start student's eligibility to participate in the program if the student fails to maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average in a course or program offered by the college or university.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
