Background:  Under current law special parking privileges are granted to any person who has a disability that limits or impairs his or her ability to walk and who meet other criteria listed in statute and identified by a licensed physician.  The Department of Licensing allows special parking permits to be issued by chiropractors, naturopaths, medical doctors, osteopathic, or podiatric physicians.

 

Summary of Bill:  Licensed physicians and advanced registered nurse practitioners are allowed to issue special parking permits.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

 

Testimony For:  Advanced registered nurse practitioners have many disabled clients and should be able to seek special parking passes.
