Background: Hunters and fishers are required to provide their social security numbers when purchasing hunting and fishing licenses. This requirement is due to federal child support enforcement laws.
Some persons believe that all hunters and fishers should not be required to provide their personal social security number in order to apprehend a small number of persons who fail to support their children.
Summary of Bill: Persons who apply for recreational licenses, such as hunting or fishing licenses, are not required to provide their social security numbers.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
Effective Date: The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
