Background: Existing law requires that in cities or towns where state-owned facilities constitute at least 10 percent of the total assessed valuation, the state agency owning the facilities shall contract with the city or town to pay an equitable share for fire protection services.
Summary of Bill: The existing fire protection payment provision is expanded to include police protection. The cities and towns included are expanded to include cities and towns where a state hospital is located.
Appropriation: None.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
