Providing salary bonuses for educational staff associates receiving board or association certification.

    AN ACT Relating to salary bonuses for educational staff associates receiving board or association certification; and adding a new section to chapter 28A.405 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28A.405 RCW to read as follows:

    (1) In addition to the compensation received under the salary schedule adopted in accordance with RCW 28A.405.200, educational staff associates who have attained certification by the entities provided for in this section shall receive an annual fifteen percent salary bonus for the duration of their certification by those entities.

    (2) This section applies to the following job descriptions as certified by their respective boards or associations:

    (a) For social workers, the national association of social workers;

    (b) For physical therapists, the American physical therapy association's American board of physical therapy specialties;

    (c) For occupational therapists, the national board for certification in occupational therapy;

    (d) For school psychologists, the national school psychology certification board;

    (e) For speech language pathologists, the American speech-language and hearing association;

    (f) For audiologists, the American board of audiology;

    (g) For school counselors, the national board for certified counselors; and

    (h) For school nurses, the national board for certification of school nurses.
