HB 1029 - DIGEST

     Provides that when a dispute arises between a nonhigh school district and a high school district regarding payments under chapter 28A.545 RCW whether it is the amount due or the payment schedule, either district may petition the educational service district to appoint a mediator.

     Provides that, if the mediator is unable to bring the districts to agreement within forty-five days of the appointment of the mediator, the educational service district shall hold a hearing within thirty days and then adopt an amount due or a payment plan within thirty days of the hearing.

     Declares that the cost of mediation shall be paid by the petitioning school district.
