HB 1336 - DIGEST
Finds that:
(1) Washington state is the most trade-dependent state in the United States;
(2) The state's economy and economic well-being depend heavily on foreign trade and international relations;
(3) It is important to the economic future of the state to promote international awareness and understanding; and
(4) Enhanced international trade, cultural, and educational opportunities are developed when governments reach out.
Declares that the purpose of this act is to enhance Washington state's ability to develop relationships and contacts throughout the world enabling us to expand international education and trade opportunities for all citizens of the state.
Creates the humanitarian relief council. Provides funding for the humanitarian relief council account.
Requires the secretary of state to submit this act to the people for their adoption and ratification, or rejection, at the next general election to be held in this state, in accordance with Article II, section 1 of the state Constitution and the laws adopted to facilitate its operation.
