HB 2280 - DIGEST

     Finds that natural disasters often cause individuals to lose wages from employment or income from self-employment, and that natural disasters adversely affect these individuals and their families with great severity.

     Declares an intent to help alleviate the hardships that result from natural disasters by providing partial wage and income replacement benefits to individuals unable to work as a result of natural disasters for whom no other wage or income replacement programs are available.

     Appropriates the sum of . . . . . . dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, for the biennium ending June 30, 2003, from the . . . . . . fund to the natural disaster benefits trust account created in this act for the purposes of this act.
