SB 5881 - DIGEST

     Provides that the capital defense assistance center shall:  (1) Assist trial and appellate counsel defending persons accused of capital offenses as sole or associate counsel; and (2) conduct training for defense counsel toward certification under the Superior Court Special Proceedings Rules - Criminal.

     Appropriates the sum of one hundred thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, from the general fund to the office of public defense for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002, to carry out the purposes of this act.

     Appropriates the sum of two hundred thirty-five thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, from the general fund to the office of public defense for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2003, to carry out the purposes of this act.
