On page 1, line 12, strike "nine" and insert "eleven"

On page 2, line 21, after "state" insert ", with at least two of those members representing small businesses"

On page 2, after line 21, insert:

"(h) The members must include two senators and two representatives from the legislature. The president of the senate shall appoint the senate members of the commission, and the speaker of the house shall appoint the house members of the commission. There should be representation from each of the two largest political parties in the senate and the house. Vacancies will by filled from the same political party and the same house as the member whose seat was vacated. The appointment process for the vacancy will be accomplished in the same manner as the initial appointment."

On page 2, line 29, after "(c)" insert "Identify policies and programs to assist Washington's small businesses;"

Renumber the remaining subsections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly

On page 2, line 37, after "(ii)" insert "Development of strategies that promote the growth and success of Washington's small businesses;"

Renumber the remaining subsections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly

EFFECT: Adds legislative members to the Economic Development Commission. Requires that at least two members of the Commission representing private businesses come from small businesses. Adds a focus on small business development to the duties of the Commission. Makes the minimum number of Commission members eleven instead of nine, due to the requirement that four members be legislators and at least seven members be selected from the private business sector.
