Background:

Currently, private schools are not required to comply with most statutory requirements that apply to public schools related to health screening and services. Private schools are subject to minimum state controls necessary to insure the health and safety of students and must comply with minimum health and safety standards related to the physical plant of the school.

Summary of Bill:

Private schools are required to have school health plans. The health plans must include policies on the identification and control of communicable diseases, health services and related records, scoliosis screening, life-threatening diseases, diabetes, child abuse and neglect reporting, immunizations and catheterization.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
