AN ACT Relating to child fatality reviews for children involved in the child welfare system; and adding a new section to chapter 74.13 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1   A new section is added to chapter 74.13 RCW to read as follows:
     (1) The department of social and health services shall conduct a child fatality review in the event of a death from any cause of a child: Who is in out-of-home care at the time of the child's death; or who had been reunified with the child's family at the time of the child's death following a placement in out-of-home care.
     (2) Upon conclusion of a child fatality review required pursuant to subsection (1) of this section, the department shall issue a report on the results of the review.
