WHEREAS, Volunteer health clinics are a critical part of the health
care system in the state of Washington; and
WHEREAS, These clinics meet the fundamental health care needs of
many individuals and families in the state of Washington including the
uninsured, the underinsured, and others who lack access to a primary
care physician; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer health clinics, sponsored by community
organizations, churches, and health care professionals, are a fine
example of communities working together to address local needs; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer health clinics are staffed by dedicated
volunteers whose compassion and expertise are critical to protecting
public health; and
WHEREAS, There are a growing number of volunteer health clinics
across the state of Washington;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives
recognize the valuable contribution the health professionals, community
volunteers, and sponsors of the Volunteer Health Clinics are providing
in meeting the health needs of the citizens of the state of Washington.
