Committee Activity: Natural Resources, Ocean & Recreation: 1/11/06.
SENATE COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES, OCEAN & RECREATION
Staff: Vic Moon (786-7469)
Background: In 2003, the Legislature passed two bills relating to the Department of Natural Resources' authority to sell valuable materials such as gravel and floral greens from state trust lands. One of these bills was the Title 79.01 code update (SSB 5751), and the other was the bill which dealt directly with sales (EHB 1252). Both bills amended the same sections of law in different ways. A bill is needed to clarify legislative intent. The office of the Code Reviser suggests corrections be made to clarify conflicting statutes.
Summary of Bill: Four duplicate sections are deleted and amendments setting the limits for direct sales at $25,000 and Board of Natural Resources approved sales at $250,000 are reenacted.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
Committee/Commission/Task Force Created: No.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
