WHEREAS, Providing a public education for all Washington state
children is the paramount duty of the state; and
WHEREAS, Parental involvement in the education process increases
student achievement; and
WHEREAS, The Washington Congress of Parents and Teachers, herein
referred to as Washington State PTA, has advocated on behalf of all
children and youth since 1905; and
WHEREAS, The 900 local Washington State PTA units throughout the
state seek to bring parents and teachers together in close cooperation
to educate and help our children meet Washington State Learning
Standards; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Washington State PTA is to "Build a
Better World for Children"; and
WHEREAS, The Washington State PTA provides a statewide and national
network of parents and teachers to share ideas, solutions, and
resources to solve problems; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Washington State PTA are comprised of
local, grassroots advocates that are active in the home, school,
community, and place of worship to promote the health, welfare, safety,
and education of children and youth; and
WHEREAS, The Washington State PTA provides leadership education and
training to make members more effective advocates on behalf of
children; and
WHEREAS, The Washington State PTA provides a voice for children in
the legislative process in Olympia on many issues including internet
safety, youth violence, levy/bond election, education reform, school
class size, and many more; and
WHEREAS, Washington state students have had their education
significantly enhanced by the Washington State PTA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives
recognize the dedication and hard work of all its members.
