WHEREAS, The Seattle Seahawks are the National Football League's
2004 NFC Western Division champions; and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks advanced to the playoffs in back-to-back
seasons for the first time in 20 years; and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks have sold out 16 straight home games over two
seasons; and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks have had eight Pro Bowl selections over the
last two seasons, including Matt Hasselbeck, Walter Jones, Steve
Hutchinson, Alex Bannister, and Shaun Alexander; and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks have several outstanding players with local
ties, including Marcus Trufant (Washington State), Joey Hollenbeck
(Washington State), Jerramy Stevens (Washington), and Rob Tobeck
(Washington State); and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks' Blue Ribbon partnership raised more than
$250,000 this past season for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Camp Fire USA,
Treehouse, and YMCA; and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks, at the start of the 2004 season, dedicated
a helmet wall monument at Qwest Field, honoring each Washington high
school football team; and
WHEREAS, The Seahawks players and staff made more than 500
charitable appearances in the State of Washington during the 2004
calendar year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of
Representatives congratulate the Seattle Seahawks on their outstanding
success on the field, and that the Seahawks players and management be
commended for their support of community activities and charitable
causes; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of
Representatives to the Seattle Seahawks Football Team.
