WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to
recognize all fields of endeavor; and
WHEREAS, High school wrestling has a long tradition of molding the
student athlete of today into a leader of tomorrow and embraces the
values of team and sacrifice, in addition to pride in community and
self; and
WHEREAS, An inspirational example of excellence and camaraderie was
shown by Sedro Woolley High School's 2006 Wrestling Team that won a
state record tying fifth consecutive Class 3A wrestling championship;
and
WHEREAS, The 2005 Sedro Woolley Team showed athletic excellence by
finishing with a big-school record of 197 1/2 points which was 83
points ahead of the closest competitor; and
WHEREAS, Senior Patrick O'Neil led the team to victory and set a
school record by capturing his third state title while Michael
Lomsdalen and Derek Crouter both received their second state titles;
and
WHEREAS, The 2006 Sedro Woolley High School Championship Team
members were Patrick O'Neil, Michael Lomsdalen, Derek Crouter, Kevin
O'Neil, Patrick Janicki, Jory Clark, Shane Hunt, Jordan Frisbee, Randal
Nersten, Sammy Bisbey, and Cody Pohren; and
WHEREAS, The 2006 Sedro Woolley High School Wrestling Championship
Team was led by Head Coach Jay Breckenridge, Assistant Coach Jack Hurd,
Assistant Coach Jeret Garcia, and Volunteer Coach Dave Greiner; and
WHEREAS, The support and encouragement of families and the spirit
shown by the school and the community were an integral part in this
championship season;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT BE RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of
Representatives recognize and honor the accomplishments of the Sedro
Woolley Wrestling Team in their State Championship season of 2005-2006
and congratulate the team members, coaches, family, students, and
community that made such an accomplishment possible; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of
Representatives to members and coaches of the Sedro Woolley Wrestling
Team, Athletic Director Todd Torgeson, and to School Principal Mike
Schweigert.
