   On page 3, beginning on line 27, strike all of subsection (6) and insert the following:

   "(6) The director shall grant a certificate without examination to any applicant who, during the ninety days following the effective date of this section, submits an application for such certification and evidence of his or her employment as a journey-level sprinkler fitter or residential sprinkler fitter for a period of not less than eight thousand hours."

EFFECT: Deletes a grandfather clause allowing a person to obtain a temporary certificate without examination for up to one year. The person must have 8,000 hours of experience for a temporary journey-level certificate or 4,000 hours of experience for a temporary residential certificate. The person must apply for the certificate within 90 days of the act's effective date.

Adds a grandfather clause allowing a person to obtain a certificate without examination. The person must have 8,000 hours of employment as a journey-level or residential sprinkler fitter for a certificate. The person must apply for the certificate within 90 days of the act's effective date.
