   On page 98, after line 31, insert the following:

   "(20)$271,000 of the general fund--state appropriation for fiscal year 2009 is provided solely for the expansion of kinship navigator services provided to grandparents and other kinship caregivers. Funding is to support additional kinship navigators at area agencies on aging (AAA), or entities that contract with AAAs. The department is authorized to use $52,000 of the amount provided in this subsection for administration of the kinship navigator program."

EFFECT: The kinship navigator program is funded in the proposed house budget. Aging and disabilities services is authorized to use $52,000 for 0.5 ftes to administer the navigator program. The remaining $219,000 is to be distributed to area agencies on aging for the purpose of hiring kinship navigators.

FISCAL IMPACT: None.
