On page 1, beginning on line 14, after "to" strike all material through "chapter." on line 14, and insert "encourage the use of effective, evidence-based services. The department shall track per-capita expenditures for a cohort of clients that receive smoking cessation benefits, and submit a cost-benefit analysis to the legislature on or before January 1, 2012."
EFFECT: Removes the exemption from prior authorization
requirements for smoking cessation medications.
Requires the establishment of coverage limitations to encourage the
use of effective, evidence-based services rather than to discourage
waste or address fraud.
Requires DSHS to track expenditures for a cohort of clients
receiving smoking cessation benefits and to submit a cost-benefit
analysis to the Legislature by January 1, 2012.
